 Installing Continuous Cord Roman Shades

Outside Mount

Example of Continuous Cord Roman Shade, Outside Mount

IMPORTANT: Please do not cut off anything that is attached directly to the back side of shade, such as, mini zip ties, rings, clear plastic orbs on cordless shades etc. Anything that is attached to the shade is done so for a reason. If there is excess cord hanging down, you may cut that but to be sure, please contact us first before cutting anything off a shade.

You May Need To Adjust the Orbs on the Back Side For Straighter Folds:

MPORTANT- For straighter folds, please carefully adjust the plastic orbs found on the backside, bottom of each cord (3 orbs per shade). Since we cannot hang these in our house before shipping out, sometimes they need minor adjusting for the folds to be straight across. You simply move the orbs up or down until each fold looks straighter. We allow slack at the bottom to account for this adjustment. To operate cordless roman shades, you simply pull on the white knob hanging down on the back side of the shade.

Outside mounted shades can be installed on the wall above the trim or on the trim itself, depending on how you measured. You will need to purchase an L bracket in order to mount the continuous cord shades (not provided). Handyman may be required, as it is a little more difficult than our inside mounted shades.

Continuous cord roman shades are a bit new to our shop, so we apologize for the shortened instructions at this time. We recommend inside mount for continuous cord, as the outside mount requires additional brackets (nor provided) and has a 1 1/2” projection. For outside mounted continuous cord roman shades, you will need to purchase small L brackets, found at most hardware stores for rather inexpensive. You will need 2 per shade. They are about 1 1/2”-2” and have 4 holes per bracket and are a 90% angle.

First remove the hardware covers on either side of the shade. They are the white covers on the ends. You slide them off and can easily pop them on when the shade is installed. You will want to press in on the one side of the end bracket (small circle) with something the size of a pen or small screwdriver to release the tube from the bracket. This is located on the right side if you have the liner side up. The tube will now detach from the side brackets. You will then drill your brackets into the top of the shade, through the fabric. Please be extra cautious that you are drilling them into the right part of the shade. You may want to predrill or drill slowly to avoid fabric from bunching. Hold shade wood up to the window with the tube and chain detached from the wood still. You will need two people to do this. Then drill the one hole that is showing on the brackets into your wall or trim (both sides). Make sure the shade is level. You will then put the tube back onto the brackets on the ends. You put the side with the chain on first, and then hold in the little button on the other side and pop the shade onto the bracket until you see it click into place. Replace white covers on the side brackets.

Continuous cord shades are usually best for inside mounted shades.

You will need to remove this white cap on each end.

Remove Cap by pulling downward and popping off

Push in little circle to release the tube from the brackets.

Tube pops off bracket. To pop it back on, hold in the circle on the tube and slide it over the bracket until you line it up and here it click back on.

You will need 2 L brackets for outside mount chain shades, as well as cordless shades. Drill the 2 screws into the top of the shade on each side.

L brackets and flat brackets, found at most hardware stores, can be used for installation. We recommend L brackets for the outside mount cordless or chain shades.
